‘Tonight Show’ crowd boos Mark Wahlberg over Tom Brady bromance

The ‘Ted 2’ star turned it around, though.

Mark Wahlberg had a rocky start to his Tonight Show appearance on Thursday night.

After initially receiving a warm welcome from the crowd, things got a bit awkward when Jimmy Fallon congratulated the Ted 2 star over the recent Super Bowl win by Tom Brady and the Patriots. Before Wahlberg could even respond, the New York-based audience quickly changed its tune and booed the actor over his allegience to a Boston sports team.

The harsh reaction took Fallon by surprise and prompted the late night host to calm the crowd down.

“Oh no, no, no, we don’t do that here,’’ Fallon said.

While things didn’t kick off as planned, it didn’t take long for Wahlberg to charm the crowd back into his corner.

The actor went in-depth about his bromance with Brady and got the audience laughing when Fallon showed a hilarious picture of the Boston celebrities together after the Super Bowl.

Tom Brady celebrated with Mark Wahlberg at Super Bowl XLIX on February 1.

“Do you remember what you were saying to him here?’’ Fallon asked.

“Something about his blue eyes,’’ Wahlberg quipped without skipping a beat.

The actor proceeded to preview Brady’s must-see cameo in the upcoming Ted sequel.

Following last night’s interview, Fallon, of course, had to play a game with Wahlberg.

The pair ended up playing Head Shots, which meant firing rubber arrows at each other’s faces.

For some reason, it’s strangely satisfying to see the late night star get shot in the head repeatedly by the Boston actor.
