While the ongoing coronavirus pandemic ushered devastation and darkness into people’s daily routines, it also gave way to moments of levity and acts of kindness when people needed them most. Jamaica Plain residents, inspired by viral videos of locked-down citizens singing from their balconies in Italy, began hosting impromptu and socially-distanced evening sing-alongs. A Boston couple embraced uncertainty after having to cancel their destination wedding and got married in the BostPublic Garden instead. After a Lynn nurse was exposed to COVID-19 and forced into home quarantine, neighbors helped a violin and cello duo surprise her with a string concert

 that played their rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” to brighten her day. 

Even celebrities came together virtually to spread joy through segments like John Krasinski’s “Some Good News.”

Uplifting moments have appeared all around us since the onslaught of the outbreak and we want to hear about yours. 

Have you had more time to chat with your neighbors from adjacent porches? Does the simple act of a family dinner feel a little more special than before? Have you attended a high school graduation that, despite the virus, found a way to alternatively honor seniors’ achievements through events like a drive-through parade? Maybe you’ve found a blissful escape in the lure of Cape Cod beaches? Were you witness to an act of goodwill, like a Norwood antique shop owner gifting a 23-year-old musician a piano after he performed “Don’t Stop Believing” in the family-owned store? Or, have you been the person giving?
