Dunkin’ Donuts often features Boston celebrities such as Tom Brady and Matt Damon in their commercials. The latest one, however, plays on the rumored connection between Boston native Ben Affleck and “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star Jen Affleck.
After her rise, people began to wonder if the two were related.
While it has been confirmed that they are not, this hasn’t stopped them from playing into the rumors, such as in the latest Dunkin’ ad from September 15.
“Expecting my cousin Ben? Nah”, said Jen, as the commercial pans to her after the worker calls out the name “Affleck”.
Jen is married to fellow “Mormon Wives” actor Zac Affleck, who has said that he is at most a distant relative of Ben Affleck. He claims that it has been a long-running joke in his family, but nobody has taken it seriously until now.
This ad dropped just a day before the release of season 34 of “Dancing with the Stars,” which Jen is featured in.
The “value Affleck”, as she calls herself in the commercial, carries on to make fun of her much older ‘relative’.
“You know what’s not value? Ben. Why overpay for something that nobody wants. He’s so dated. I’m younger, hotter. Can you believe Ben’s only 53?”
It wouldn’t be a Dunkin’ commercial without featuring Ben though, as the ad cuts to him after Jen’s comment.
“Rude,” he says. “Totally average 53. Right down the 53 fairway”.
