Reviewers of Tom Brady‘s announcing performance during his inaugural season as an analyst have called him “wooden” and “robotic.” But the former Patriots quarterback clearly has a sense of humor about the criticisms, if his 2025 Super Bowl commercial for Duracell is any indication.
In the 30-second spot, play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt throws to Brady for some Super Bowl analysis. But before Brady can utter a word, he shuts down.
After swapping some fresh batteries into a wristband that looks a lot like one a quarterback typically wears, Brady snaps back to life.
“Are you okay Tom?” Burkhardt asks.
“Why does everybody keep asking me that since the roast?” Brady responds.
The premise and execution of the commercial are both pretty straightforward. But someone clearly went through a lot of effort to design Brady’s wristband, which features references to his fastidious diet, Deflategate, and a possible 2026 comeback.
Each of the 12 slots where plays would be listed instead feature smoothie recipes and healthy ingredients. The center of the console lists Brady’s PSI as 12, and on the left side of the wristband is a note that reads “2026 TB12 — unretire?”
