The DunKings have added a new member to the royal family: Jeremy Strong.
In a teaser for the upcoming 2025 Dunkin’ Super Bowl commercial that aired during Sunday night’s Grammys telecast, Casey and Ben Affleck — decked out in pink and orange Dunkin’ gear — check in on “Succession” actor (and Boston native) Jeremy Strong, who decided to go “full method” for the ad.
In real life, Strong is known for his devotion to method acting, a technique in which an actor immerses themselves in a role, identifying a fictional character’s motivations and inner emotions to make the performance more “real.”
In the Dunkin’ commercial, titled “The Bean Method,” Casey and Ben attempt to get Strong to report to set.
“Jeremy is a method actor,” Casey tells Ben. “He’s not coming out until he’s ready.”
Strong’s method acting has given him a reputation for being self-serious, even causing “Succession” co-star Brian Cox to call Strong’s devotion “f****** annoying.” But Strong had no issue poking fun at himself in the Dunkin’ ad.
“I’m just trying to find the character,” Strong told the Afflecks, emerging from a vat of wet coffee grounds. “I think I found a way in. You’re from Boston, I’m from Boston. Dunkin’ is Boston. Boston is Paul Revere, one if by land, two if by sea, the redcoats are coming.”
“The Bean Method” marks the third straight year that Affleck has partnered with Dunkin’ for a Super Bowl commercial.
In 2024, Affleck, Matt Damon, and Tom Brady appeared in the Dunkin’ Super Bowl commercial as the “DunKings,” a pop act recording a song for a producer played by Affleck’s ex-wife Jennifer Lopez.
And in 2023, Affleck and Lopez worked together on an ad in which Affleck worked the drive-through window at a Dunkin’, which was filmed in Medford and Revere.
Along with starring in the ads, Affleck has produced all three years of Dunkin’ Super Bowl commercials through his and Damon’s production company, Artists Equity.
Even before “The Bean Method” aired, Affleck teased this year’s Dunkin’ commercial by donning a Dunkin’ branded top while on one of his usual paparazzi strolls.
