Massachusetts Conference for Women to bring Amal Clooney, Elizabeth Gilbert, Aly Raisman
More than 17,000 women are expected to attend.
This year’s Massachusetts Conference for Women promises to bring big names to Boston. The event, billed as the largest women’s conference in the nation, will feature keynote speeches from Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, “Eat, Pray, Love’’ author Elizabeth Gilbert, and comedian and activist Franchesca Ramsey — and that’s just on opening night.
Now in its 14th year, the Dec. 5-6 conference features a program packed with speakers, book signings, roundtable discussions, and networking events, many with a focus on women in the workplace. According to a statement, more than 17,000 women are expected to attend, according to a statement from organizers.
Many conference happenings take place Dec. 6, with keynote talks by human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, comedian and disability advocate Maysoon Zayid, and happiness researcher Shawn Achor.
On Dec. 5, a workplace summit will be held with Achor joined by journalist and author Joanne Lipman and broadcaster and communications expert Celeste Headlee to discuss issues like gender partnership, collaboration, and communication in the workplace, according to the conference website.
The conference also features a young women’s program for high school juniors and seniors; topics for the program this year include body positivity and coping with anxiety.
Tickets for the conference and summit are sold out, but tickets are still available for the opening night event as of Oct. 29. For more information, visit www.maconferenceforwomen.org.
