Aly Raisman’s ex and a former Patriots player are now on ‘The Bachelorette’
Colton Underwood is hoping to win Becca Kufrin's heart this season on ABC.
The 14th season of “The Bachelorette” premiered Monday night on ABC, and one of the perfectly symmetrical faces competing for the love of Rebecca “Becca” Kufrin may have been familiar to some.
Colton Underwood, 26, a former NFL tight end and linebacker who dated Needham native and Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman during parts of 2016 and 2017, was one of the 28 eligible men selected to compete on the hit reality show.
Underwood told the Peoria Journal Star in June 2017 that he and Raisman were no longer an item.
“We’re taking a break right now,” Underwood told the newspaper. “We’re still good friends and talk, but all that travel had been a nightmare.”
Underwood was not among the seven contestants sent home during Monday night’s premiere, a likely relief for a man whose brief NFL career featured more cuts than regular season games played.

Of the 21 bachelors still in the contest, Underwood isn’t the only ex-NFLer in the mix, with former New England Patriots tight end Clay Harbor also competing for Kufrin’s affection.
As for Raisman, there’s no official news on whom (if anyone) she’s currently dating, though she was spotted in the Seaport dining with Boston Bruins forward Tim Schaller in December 2017. She has also “liked” more than half of the Instagrams Schaller has posted in 2018, and has left comments like, “Proud of you ?” and a simple smiley face on his photos in the last month.
