Taylor Schilling remembers a time when binge watching wasn’t a thing
Wayland native Taylor Schilling appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Friday night, where the Orange Is the New Black star revealed that she was surprised her show was the one to kick-off the cultural craze of “binge-watching” television.
Schilling said that during the first round of media training for OITNB, she and her castmates were told not to use the word “binge” when talking about the show. Instead, they were told to say the series, which recently released its fourth season, “is dropping.”
“Now, it’s a part of the lexicon that we’re all binging on tv,” she said.
Schilling plays Piper Chapman, the show’s protagonist who is sentenced to 15 months in prison for transporting drug money. She was nominated for an Emmy in 2014, and Golden Globes in both 2014 and 2015.
