Tom Brady says he’s a more relaxed parent than Gisele

“I’m pretty mellow.”

Tom Brady has to balance his four-time-Super-Bowl-winning football career with his life at home with wife Gisele Bündchen and their two kids, but Brady doesn’t get worked up about it. He’s a chill dad, he told People—it’s Gisele who tends to run a tighter ship.

“I don’t overstress—I’m pretty mellow in our house. I get up, get the kids ready for school and I’m not freaking out about every little thing. I just take it at my own pace. I’m a pretty relaxed parent,” Brady told the publication at an event for Beautyrest Black. (Have you seen his new ad for them? It’s something to behold.)

“My wife is a little more like, ‘You have to do it this way! You have to do this!’ And I’m a little more like, ‘They’ll get to it.’”

Harsh, Tom.

But Gisele gets some parenting points when it comes to reading to the kids before bed. Benjamin, 6, and Vivian, 3, can speak mom’s native Portuguese, but Brady can’t. They get a kick out of all his mispronunciations, he told People.

“We have a lot of Portuguese books in the house and those are…funny!” Brady said. “My kids can [speak Portuguese], but I can’t read it, so I probably screw up half the words. If they want to pick one of those books, they can, and that’s one of the ones that I read. It’s hard.”
