Ben Affleck says putting on 20 pounds of muscle for Batman was hard to do at his ‘advanced age’

He packed them on for Batman V Superman.

In a similar vein to what we experienced with Matt Damon’s The Martian press tour, the Internet is likely going to see a whole lot of Ben Affleck leading up to his big Batman debut. The media appearances have begun, including a stop at Good Morning America, where Affleck and British actor Henry Cavill (aka Superman) sat down with ABC News’s Jesse Palmer.

Getting into shape was one of the main topics of discussion. (As it should be. Have you even seen Henry Cavill?)

“I saw the first movie that he was in and I was like, ‘Wow, I don’t know if I’m going to be able to be quite in that good of shape,’’’ Affleck told Palmer in the segment, which aired Tuesday. “He’s definitely set a high bar, but he also has to be in that high bar because he’s, you know, an alien. Aliens have to look a certain way. I figured I had a lower bar to reach. I’m just a man, after all.’’

Affleck and Cavill trained for about a year before tackling their superhero roles. Affleck said he ended up putting on about 20 pounds of muscle, which, he added, “is really hard to do, certainly at my…advanced age.’’

Nah, Affleck doesn’t look a day over 23. *Side glance.*
