“One of the worst things about getting an abortion was actually having to say the word ‘abortion.’’’

In an effort to to share some of the many reasons why women have abortions, seven actresses teamed up with the Center for Reproductive Rights to relay experiences of real women across America.

Pittsfield-native Elizabeth Banks, as well as Amy Brenneman, Mercedes Mason, Mary McCormack, Dascha Polanco, Retta, and Bellamy Young each shared a different woman’s story in a series of videos, recounting complicated and varied reasons why women choose to end their pregnancies.

These real experiences were submitted to the Center for Reproductive Rights’ Draw the Line campaign, which hopes to draw attention to the Supreme Court case Whole Women’s Health v. Cole, which is being heard on March 2. The case will determine if Texas can enforce restrictions on abortion providers.
