We’re sorry to report that you have been lied to, America. The truth behind the most influential hairstyle of 2015 has been exposed.
Matt Damon—Bostonian, actor, and now noted person of haircut trickery—revealed on the U.K.’s Graham Norton Show Friday that the thick, luscious, holy grail of man-ponies he unleashed this summer was just a fabrication for a movie.
“It was hair extensions,’’ Damon said on the show, his ponytail conspicuously absent. To that, Norton replied, “Oh, it wasn’t real?’’
In fact, Damon’s pony was made up of 700 hair extensions, and someone flew out to Damon’s film location in Beijing in order to spend a day applying them.
“And then I had to manage that hair,’’ Damon added. “I now have a whole new appreciation for my wife and daughter. It’s very hard to do.’’
To those who are also victims of Matt Damon’s hairy deception: Stay strong.
