‘Captain America’s’ Chris Evans wants to leave acting for directing
In a recent interview with Variety, actor Chris Evans revealed that he’s ready to leave Captain America’s red, white, and blue tights behind in order to focus on his true passion: directing.
“I’ve known for a while I wanted to direct,’’ Evans told Variety. “But (time) never really opens up. There’s another movie to do, there’s another acting job. It just got to a point where I was like, you know what — I have to do this.’’
Evans said that he is comitted to fufilling his Marvel contract – which will tentatively take him through 2017 – but he does not expect to pursue acting after his run as Captain America comes to an end.
The former Sudbury resident is slated to make his directorial debut with “1:30 Train,’’ an upcoming romance film about a woman (Alice Eve) who is robbed while trying to catch a train from Boston to New York City, and ends up spending the night talking to a street musician (Evans).
Before he leaves acting completely, Evans will next reprise his role as the patriotic superhero when “Captain America: The Winter Soldier’’ hits theaters on April 4, and then again in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,’’ which will be released on May 1, 2015.
