Hotel opens up—vertically
The new Revere Hotel Boston Common, which is in the building that used to be the Radisson, opened Wednesday night with a spectacle – namely a “vertical fashion show’’ that had climbers from Boston Rock Gym rappelling down the side of the building in stylish gear by Ted Baker and MassArt students, who were commissioned earlier this year to design uniforms for the hotel staff. The Revere gave binoculars to spectators down below to make it easier to see the models who were closer to the 24th floor. After the show, the hotel hosted a VIP gathering in the hotel’s sixth floor Gallery. The VIP list for the night included Elaine Driscoll of the Boston Police Department, MassArt VP Hunter O’Hanian, the stylish Marilyn Riseman, Channel 7’s Janet Wu, Channel 5’s Bianca de la Garza, Hotel Director of Events Laura Kinsman (who was hired by the Revere after working for the Mondrian, Los Angeles, where she planned events such as the Golden Globes afterparty for “The Social Network’’), and Matt Reis of the New England Revolution. The new hotel timed the party to the 237th anniversary of Paul Revere’s ride. (The hotel is named after him.) Emerald Lounge, the hotel’s bar and nightclub, is expected to open by the end of the month.
