Mindy Kaling’s new book slated for summer 2020 release
Mindy Kaling’s newest essay collection, from Amazon Original Studios, has a summer 2020 release date. Amazon Publishing announced on Tuesday that the book will be available for free to Prime and Kindle Unlimited members, and that readers will also be able to listen to an audio version read by Kaling.
The essays will tackle everything from hanging out with Reese Witherspoon and Sandra Bullock to viewing “The Handmaid’s Tale’’ during her pregnancy, according to Amazon.
“It’s so exciting for me to share the secrets of how I balance being a professional writer, actor, and single mom in a new collection of essays,’’ Kaling said in an Instagram post. “I mean, it would be so exciting to share those secrets. I don’t have them. Like, not even close. This morning I bribed my baby with a remote control to get my car keys back. But I do have funny stories about my life and I can’t wait for you to read them.’’
Kaling is also the author of a 2015 memoir, “Why Not Me?,’’ and a 2011 essay collection, “Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?’’ Both books spent several weeks on the New York Times Best Sellers list.
“Whether she’s delighting fans on-screen or on-the-page — as ‘The Office’s’ Kelly Kapoor, ‘The Mindy Project’s’ Mindy Lahiri, Molly Patel in the upcoming film ‘Late Night,’ or as a New York Times best-selling memoirist — Mindy is guaranteed to entertain,’’ Mikyla Bruder, of Amazon Publishing, said in a statement.
