Local authors Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge have signed on to write “Misery Mountain: The Inside Story Behind the Pursuit, Capture and Killing of Mob Boss Whitey Bulger’’ for William Morrow. The book will be published next year, according to a release from Fort Point Media.

The book will chronicle the Bulger investigation, his eventual capture, and details from Bulger’s final hours. The 89-year-old was beaten to death in 2018 soon after being transferred to the high-security Hazleton federal penitentiary in West Virginia known as “Misery Mountain.’’

The authors most recently teamed up to write the “12: The Inside Story of Tom Brady’s Fight for Redemption.’’ They’re also the authors of “Boston Strong,’’ which was the basis for the Mark Wahlberg-led film “Patriots Day,’’ and the authors of “The Ice Bucket Challenge,’’ which is currently being developed into a Netflix film produced by Casey Affleck.
