On her 88th birthday, “To Kill a Mockingbird’’ author Harper Lee gifted the world with the authorization to turn her classic novel into an e-book, commemorating its 54th anniversary.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning novel was first published on July 11, 1960 and has sold more than 30 million copies in English worldwide. Fans will be able to get their hands (via their e-readers) on the e-book starting July 8.
Lee released a statement via HarperCollins in which she called herself “old-fashioned,’’ and noted that the electronic version of “To Kill a Mockingbird’’ is “a ‘Mockingbird’ for a new generation.’’
