The parent company of Jack’s Abby announced Tuesday it is acquiring Night Shift Brewing, a change that makes the Framingham-based company the largest craft beer producer in Massachusetts.
Hendler Family Brewing Company said after closing on the purchase, it will have 300 employees, including the majority of Night Shift’s existing team. Hendler also recently purchased Worcester’s Wormtown Brewery.
Night Shift’s core lineup of beers — like Whirlpool, Santilli, and Nite Light — will be maintained, as well the brand’s locations at Lovejoy Wharf and in Everett. The Boston beer gardens in Allston, Dewey Square, and on the Esplanade will also be maintained, according to Hendler.
“This expansion is not just about growth; it’s about building a stronger foundation for our teams and brands to thrive,” Sam Hendler, co-founder and CEO of Hendler Family Brewing said in a statement. “By providing resources and stability to brands like Night Shift, Wormtown, and Jack’s Abby, we will ensure that Massachusetts’ craft beer industry remains local and independent for years to come.”
In a statement, the Framingham company said that the purchase will “provide stability and sustainable growth” for both brewers and employees.
Jack Hendler, co-owner and head brewer at the company, pledged to continue Night Shift’s “legacy of quality and innovation.”
“While Jack’s Abby was born to pay homage to lagers, adding Night Shift and Wormtown lets us keep award-winning IPAs like Santilli and Be Hoppy in the hands of those who love them,” he said in a statement.
According Hendler Family Brewing, the Night Shift locations at Level 99 and the Encore Taproom will also remain in place.
