10 Boston concerts that are close to selling out
From Tom Petty to Future.
Do you ever assume you can wait to get tickets at the door to your favorite shows, only to find that they already sold out? We consulted promoters from different venues around town—Lisa Vassallo of LiveNation, Andie Rizzolo of Crossroads Presents, Jared Dobson of Bowery Boston, and Ryan Agate of RTT Presents—to warn you about which Boston concerts are running low on tickets. If you snooze this time, don’t say we never told you so.Two Cow Garage
Get a crew of Midwestern punk vets to play a small room in Allston, and you have to assume that tickets will be in high demand. Promoter Ryan Agate explained the show’s draw: “Two Cow Garage are just insane, and they get two of the best locals [as openers], the offbeat folk punk from The Old Edison and the [very tight] Tied To A Bear.” (Sunday, May 14 at 8 p.m.; O’Brien’s Pub; $10; 21+; with The Old Edison, Tied To A Bear; tickets available here)Laura Marling
British songwriter Laura Marling is only 27 years old and has already released six albums and been nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize three times. Demand is always high when this singer crosses the pond, especially behind the release of her highly-acclaimed new album, Semper Femina. (Tuesday, May 16 at 7 p.m.; Paradise Rock Club; $25; 18+; with Valley Queen; tickets available here) Future
Atlanta rapper Future is one of rap’s biggest names on his own. Add in “Black and Boujee” trio Migos, Canadian hip-hopper Tory Lanez, and A$AP Mob heavy-hitter A$AP Ferg, and it’s no surprise that this show is on the fast-track to a sellout. (Tuesday, May 23 at 7 p.m.; Xfinity Center; $70; all ages; with Migos, Tory Lanez, A$AP Ferg, Zoey Dollaz; tickets available here) Air
French electronic duo Air is touring the U.S. for the first time in seven years. For this reason, promoter Jared Dobson said, “If I were a betting man, I’d bet [this] sells out or gets very close to it.” (Monday, June 5 at 8 p.m.; Royale; $50; 18+; tickets available here) Jurassic 5
Los Angeles hip-hop collective Jurassic 5 hasn’t toured in a decade, having taken a hiatus in 2007. The six-piece group of emcees and DJs will make its first Boston stop in just as long, and tickets are moving quickly. (Friday, June 9 at 6 p.m.; Royale; $38; 18+; tickets available here) White Denim
Austin blues-rock crew White Denim found its most success yet with 2016’s Stiff. Next month, the band will play Great Scott for two nights, rather than The Sinclair, which it played last time around. The Saturday show is already sold out, so act quickly if you want to get into the Sunday one. (Sunday, June 18 at 9 p.m.; Great Scott; $22; 18+; tickets available here) John Legend
Golden-voiced songwriter John Legend can make special things happen with only a stage and a grand piano. The singer has won 10 Grammys, an Academy Award, and collaborated with the likes of Kanye West, Common, and Ariana Grande. It’s no surprise that his Darkness and Light World Tour is selling quickly. (Monday, June 19 at 7 p.m.; Blue Hills Bank Pavilion; $42; all ages; with Gallant; tickets available here) Third Eye Blind
San Francisco alt-rock favorite Third Eye Blind has churned out hits since the ‘90s. While most of those hits came from 1997’s self-titled album, the band has released an album and an EP within the last two years, keeping its rabid fanbase as strong as ever. (Wednesday, June 21 at 7 p.m.; Blue Hills Bank Pavilion; $49; all ages; with Silversun Pickups; tickets available here) Luke Bryan
Nashville recording artist Luke Bryan will bring his Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day Tour to Mansfield, fresh off of having sung the National Anthem at this year’s Super Bowl. Summer country shows (and their tailgates) are typically in high demand, and this one is no different. (Saturday, June 24 at 7 p.m.; Xfinity Center; $35; all ages; with Brett Eldredge, Lauren Alaina; tickets available here) Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and all-around songwriting legend Tom Petty is bringing his band to the Garden for two nights. Not only has it been a while since the Heartbreakers have hit Boston, but Petty himself has hinted that this 40th anniversary tour could be one of the band’s last big ones. (Thursday, July 20 and Friday July 21 at 7:30 p.m.; TD Garden; $75; all ages; with Peter Wolf; tickets available here)
