Boston’s ICA wraps up anniversary celebration
BOSTON (AP) — The Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston is celebrating its birthday with a series of special weekend events.
Saturday’s programming includes free admission, two special exhibitions, live music and dance performances, behind the scenes tours and snacks and giveaways.
The events are the culmination of 10 days of celebrations to mark the museum’s 10th anniversary at its current location in the Seaport District and the 80th anniversary of the museum’s founding.
The ICA was established in 1936 and is one of the oldest museums in the nation dedicated solely to contemporary art.
It has been at the forefront internationally in identifying and supporting the most influential artists of the time.
Director Jill Medvedow says the museum offers inspiration, education, history, economic vitality and community.
