An unexpected side effect of social distancing has been animals wandering around places that have appeared vacant in recent weeks. Normally, wildlife live on the periphery of urban areas, away from density of humans. With residents adhering to the stay-at-home advisory, some animals are feeling emboldened to explore.

Last week, we asked readers to send in photos of wildlife in odd places. Ahead, we share the turkeys, deer, and one particularly adventurous black bear that have been spotted by Boston.com readers.

“We spotted this flock wandering down Draper Street in Fields Corner a week ago. Eight in total taking a leisurely stroll in the morning hours.” — Jed Lenon, Dorchester

“I was surprised to wake up and look in the middle of the street to about four wild turkeys. Three of them looked like turkeys I have seen before, but I was so surprised to see this one that I had to go out and get photos, as safely as possible of course! This male turkey was showing off for a female turkey. I believe it is mating season.” — Meghan Lee, Medford

“This bear visited our backyard two weeks ago. We’ve lived in this neighborhood for 20+ years and have never seen a bear. It actually looks (like) a human in a bear suit!!!” — Megan Cuff, Andover
