There was an alpaca on the loose in Shirley

Alpacalypse now.

The Shirley Police Department created a Facebook post Friday alerting locals to the fact that an alpaca had been found running loose on Lancaster Road in Shirley.

Yes. There was a rogue alpaca in western Massachusetts.

Apparently, the alpaca was wrangled by local law enforcement and animal control officers, and police are now on the hunt for the critter’s owner. So far, no one has come forward to claim the fluff ball.

Granted, alpacas are not an unusual sight in Massachusetts—the state even houses an alpaca farm in Millis. But those alpacas don’t typically roam around unattended.
