I’m running for a finish line that doesn’t just end on Boylston Street. Instead, I’m running for a city where education, opportunity, and comfort are accessible for everyone. I want Boston to feel like home for all.
As a Boston College student, I’m blessed to live close to this incredible city. I run daily, exploring Boston with friends. Whether it’s Heartbreak Hill, the Seaport, or the Boston Public Library, I find home throughout this city. I want to spread this sense of comfort and community to those around me.
Growing up as the middle child in a family of six, I was extremely competitive and shy. I often felt overwhelmed and overshadowed by my siblings. However, the Boston Public Library was one of the first places I felt seen. As the anxious middle, I found the courage to be myself and escape the challenges I face. From picking out stories with my mom to reading books that changed my life, the Boston Public Library feels like a home. The Boston Public Library is a place where I didn’t compete for attention, didn’t hide behind my siblings, and didn’t pretend to be someone else. The BPL shaped me and how I live much of my life.
Team BPL isn’t just about running; they embody the message that everyone should be seen, supported, and appreciated. They care for every single person. Regardless of experiences, interests, or challenges one may face, every person is welcome at the Boston Public Library. I want to carry out BPL’s mission to empower and connect communities through education and engagement.
With love and compassion, anything is possible.
