FOOD & DRINK

We cooked with this …

What’s cookin’, good lookin’? Obviously, the Globe’s new searchable recipe database. Duh!

We know our foodie readers well, so we rounded up a few B-Side-approved bangers that are cheap, easy, and quick to make:

🍳 Crispy feta-fried egg. Bored of your typical breakfast rotation? Fry an egg in melted feta! Inspired by a viral reel back in 2023, the feta adds a hit of saltiness, the smear of avocado gives you some green, and the zingy lime squeeze ties it all together. Bonus: The whole thing comes together in minutes.

🥗 Italian sub-turned salad. What if your favorite summer sando … was a salad? The Globe’s bread-free rendition calls for all the hallmarks of a classic Italian (provolone, salami, peppers, herbs) plus cannellini beans, all doused in oil and red wine vinegar. Bread will only slow you down.

🥮 Easy-peasy French yogurt cake. This low-effort, high-reward yogurt pound cake is so simple that French schoolchildren learn to make it with a tin of yogurt to measure ingredients. The Globe’s version calls for actual measuring cups, but it’s just as easy, and you probably have everything you need to make it in your pantry already (think: flour, sugar, eggs, oil).

🧀 Viral cottage cheese wraps. Cottage cheese is all the rage thanks to the internet’s collective protein craze. But did you know that with just a few eggs, a blender, and some seasoning, you can create a cottage cheese flatbread in just 30 minutes? It’s the perfect vehicle for hummus, meat, or veggies.

🍪 Healthy cookies that actually taste good. We promise we’re not almond moms! These multigrain chocolate chip cookies may have oats and flaxseed, but they also have butter, sugar, and loads of chocolate. The result is a nutty, grain-forward cookie with a fun crunchy texture.

🥖 King Arthur’s “forever focaccia.” The winner of King Arthur’s 2025 recipe of the year was a big, bubbly focaccia that has hundreds of five-star reviews. While the dough requires some TLC, unlike most 24-hour focaccias, this one takes just four hours and bakes in just 20 minutes.

CITY

Quick & dirty headlines

❄️ Wait … is that SNOW in the forecast?! Unfortunately, yes. As of Sunday evening, forecasts are showing that Boston could see up to an inch of snow early Monday morning. The city hasn’t seen that much snow in the forecast post-spring equinox since 2018, and if it actually happens, it’d mark the latest date in the season since 2007. Snow or not, the rain and chilly temps will make for a slow, sloppy commute this morning. Keep up with the latest here.

🏳️‍🌈 BU is cracking down on Pride flags. Over spring break, BU officials removed Pride flags from several public-facing offices and buildings on campus, sparking an outcry from faculty. Per university officials, though the school supports LGBTQ+ folks, students and faculty “do not have the right to use university property to express their personal views on political or social issues.” However, some see the move as the latest in a concerning list of crackdowns on free speech under President Trump, and have pledged to keep the flags up.

✈️ Pro tip: Book your 2026 flights NOW. With airfare prices skyrocketing, experts are recommending thrifty travelers book all their 2026 flights ASAP — including summer and holiday travel. While it’s hard to pin down one reason for the uptick, the Iran war is a likely one, spiking fuel prices and causing canceled or rerouted flights. To avoid further hikes, experts recommend setting travel alerts now, cashing in your points, and even avoiding basic economy since you can earn credit for the price difference if fares are lowered.

🍰 Pour one out for Nine Winters Bakery. The acclaimed Korean-American bakery is shutting its doors on March 29, less than a year after opening, according to an IG post by owner Marissa Ferola. In the caption, Ferola cited her family, writing: “it’s time … for me to shift and remember that I created Nine Winters with my girls. To be frank, I miss them and have chosen to build this shop as they’ve grown up.” Need to fill the gochujang sticky bun-sized hole in your heart? We have a few suggestions.

ONE LAST THING

A fetching fashion show

This season’s hottest accessory: A dog in a matching outfit. Just look at the Fairmont Copley Plaza’s adorable canine couture fashion show

Owners and their pups strutted down the runway in coordinating outfits in support of Blue Path Service Dogs. There were poodles in flouncy skirts, great danes in sequin jumpsuits, and even one pooch riding in a remote-operated car

Though all the pups were adorable, some were less excited than others to be in the limelight (see: a tiny dachshund laying down halfway through the runway). Oh, and the owners looked great too.
