What are the best running groups in Greater Boston?
Help us create a guide to Greater Boston’s best social running clubs.
Running has long been a popular form of exercise for American adults, and thanks to local running groups, it’s become a source of friendship and community building, too.
For novice and seasoned runners alike, these groups can make running a less solitary activity. Here in Boston and in surrounding communities, running clubs have some passionate devotees.
Last year, Boston.com readers told us they loved their running groups for the camaraderie and inspiration they provide. Monica M. from Brookline shared her love for reader-favorite Informal Running.
“This tight-knit, yet super-welcoming group reignited my love for running! … I love the running and socializing combination. Since I joined in the spring of 2021, I’ve made lots of friends, gotten in way better shape, and feel like I’ve become a part of the Boston running community. I would 10/10 recommend for anyone looking to run a few miles, meet new people, and explore new parts of the Boston area,” she said.
With the 128th Boston Marathon fast approaching, we’ve got running on the brain. Help us create a guide to Greater Boston’s best running groups — the beginner friendly, the ones for marathon prep, and everything in between.
