Marathon runners: What’s your most embarrassing race day moment?
When you push your body to run extreme distances, weird, embarrassing, and sometimes gross things are bound to happen.
Long distance running is not for the faint of heart. It takes an enormous amount of preparation and determination to complete all 26.2 miles of a marathon. And when you push your body to run extreme distances, weird, embarrassing, and sometimes gross things are bound to happen.
The blood, sweat, and tears you put into preparing for the race are all part of the experience – and could make an appearance on race day in an embarrassing moment that has you cringing even well after the fact.
Whether you’ve taken a tumble on a crowded or slippery path, or had to pause your run to sneak into the nearest bathroom (or tried and failed to hold it in), there are a multitude of ways to find yourself cringing on race day. But in the end, it’s all (hopefully) worth it as you make it across the finish line.
With the 128th Boston Marathon just a month away, we want to hear your most cringeworthy race day stories – hopefully ones you can now look back on and laugh at.
Tell us by filling out the form or e-mailing us at [email protected], and your response may appear in a future Boston.com article.
