A sub sandwich is a classic lunch, with all the toppings one could ever want placed between two long slices of bread.

Food News:

Bostonians are quite fond of their sub sandwiches, having named 232 of the best spots to grab one in 2021, from the North End to Winchester.

Sub sandwiches also go by many different names, such as grinder, hoagie or an Italian sandwich, however there is one Boston-specific name: a spuckie.

This name stems from spucadella bread, a common Italian roll, according to Tony Luke’s, a popular Philly cheesesteak chain.
