If you’re one of the hundreds of thousands of people expected to watch the Boston Marathon on April 18, it helps to have a plan. Whether you’re going to take in the race from the sidelines or from the comfort of a local bar, knowing the best spots for marathon viewing ahead of time gives you the breathing room to just enjoy race day.

The great thing about the 26.2-mile route from Hopkinton to Boston is that it offers plenty of locations to view the race, from the scenic leafy roads of Wellesley, Heartbreak Hill, or with the crowds at the finish line.
