You may have found yourself spending more at the gas pump recently.

The price of a gallon of gas in Massachusetts has jumped 40 cents in the last week as the war between Russia and Ukraine has disrupted the global economy, nearing the Bay State’s highest ever recorded gas price since 2008.

According to AAA’s gas price monitoring, as of Monday the average gas price in Massachusetts jumped to $4.16 per gallon, with the Cape and Islands getting hit the hardest — Nantucket county averaging $4.96 per gallon.
