After Sunday’s snowstorm — which dumped nearly two feet of snow across the region — getting around Greater Boston hasn’t been easy for many commuters.
Snow-covered roads and icy sidewalks made for a challenging start to the week, and public transit riders ran into a series of delays and cancellations.
On Wednesday, Red Line riders saw significant disruptions when service between JFK/UMass and Ashmont was forced to run on a single track due to an earlier disabled train. While regular service resumed by around 8:30 a.m., officials warned that riders should still expect residual delays of about 20 minutes.

The MBTA later reiterated that message on social media as riders continued to navigate crowded platforms and slower trips.
Commuter rail riders also faced a rough morning. Multiple lines reported delays and cancellations tied to mechanical issues, equipment shortages, switch problems, and lingering impacts from the storm.
Officials also said parking availability at Commuter Rail stations would be impacted by “ongoing snow operations.”
