Whether it’s to “split the G” or enjoy a pint at one of Greater Boston’s many Irish pubs, drinking a Guinness has never been so cool.

Obviously Guinness isn’t new. It was made in Ireland back in the 18th century by Arthur Guinness. And though it isn’t immediately clear when it arrived in Boston, it’s probably safe to say that Bostonians have been drinking the stout for decades, if not centuries.

But what is new is its trendy resurgence. Nothing about the bottle or the way it tastes has changed, but its consumers are younger, or even famous (Olivia Rodrigo, Kim Kardashian) thanks to marketing tactics and a viral social media challenge. “Splitting the G” is when you take a large first sip of the beer in hopes that the line between the foam and the stout hits the middle of the “G” on the glass.

In fact, its recent popularity has put pubs across the pond in a supply-and-demand predicament, The New York Times reported in December.

But serious Guinness drinkers may be less interested in internet challenges than they are in finding the tap that pours the best Guinness in town.

There’s a science behind pouring a proper Guinness, so it can taste different if your bartender pours the stout at a certain angle or depending on the beer’s head size (the amount of foam on top of your beverage); taste can even be impacted by the way the beer is stored. And how it’s served matters, too, with preference being in the Guinness glass.

Diageo, the company that owns Guinness, even has an “expert guide” to pouring and serving Guinness available online.

Since winter is really the perfect time to consume Guinness, and there are no shortage of places to have the stout around Boston, we want to know: Who serves the best Guinness in town?

We’re sure to hear multiple Irish pubs, which sell a lot of Guinness, like J.J. Foley’s Cafe and Eire Pub. But is there a restaurant or other kind of bar where you prefer your pour?

Boston.com wants to know so that we can build a guide to the best Guinness pour in Boston — timely given we’re a month out from St. Patrick’s Day. Tell us where you drink Guinness, and why it’s the best pour, and we may include you in a future article. Fill out the form below, or email [email protected].
