The traditional bookstore is being reimagined, and as bookstores continue popping up across the city, it is clear that Boston loves books. 

With an independent bookstore boom that has grown steadily in recent years, we want to highlight the contributions these businesses have made as havens for fostering community. 

Beyond colorful shelves full of new reads and familiar classics, some Boston bookstores have taken the shopping experience a step further. Popular shops like Park Street Books & Toys in Medfield, which has an in-house pottery studio, and An Unlikely Story Bookstore & Cafe in Plainville, which hosts a variety of community events and has a cafe, are among a long list of reader-favorites for all they have to offer.
