Apple Music has officially crowned one album as the best of all time.
The music streaming service kicked off its countdown of the top 100 albums ever made May 13, with 10 albums being announced each day. Curating the list was a group of songwriters, producers, industry professionals, and Apple Music’s team of experts, according to the service.
In a press release last week, Apple Music described the list as both an “editorial statement, fully independent of any streaming numbers on Apple Music” and a “love letter to the records that have shaped the world music lovers live and listen in.”
“100 Best brings together all the things that make Apple Music the ultimate service for music lovers — human curation at its peak, an appreciation for the art of storytelling, and unparalleled knowledge of music and an even deeper love for it,” Rachel Newman, Apple Music’s senior director of content and editorial, said in the release.
Artists and bands across generations and genres, from Radiohead to The Beatles, Billie Eilish to Elton John, and Bad Bunny to Aretha Franklin appeared on the list. Pop, rock, folk, rap, R&B, and alternative are just a few of the genres represented in the ranking.
Apple Music revealed their top 10 albums Wednesday morning:
