This holiday season, Boston.com readers share the local GoFundMe fundraising campaigns they think deserve to reach their goals. If you’d like to recommend a crowdfunding campaign, share your story here.

Name: Julie DeRoo
City: East Bridgewater

This GoFundMe is for my brother Kevin who would give anyone the shirt off his back. Now he needs some help. He has had a difficult year. He had COVID-19 very bad and was on a respirator, but he pulled through. He still is tired but doing a lot better. His wife has stage 5 kidney failure and she is going blind. She owes hospital bills.

Julie DeRoo is raising money for her brother Kevin Hurley and his family after their home suffered an oil spill.

His oil tank let go while he was in the hospital with COVID-19 and the bills just keep going up with hospital bills and clean-up ahead. Homeowners’ insurance does not cover oil spills. It is a terrible situation. It would be a blessing for them to get help.
