There is no shortage of dining options in Allston.
This Boston neighborhood along the Green Line’s B train showcases a diverse slate of eating and drinking options, from Korean food to Mediterranean spots to classic dive bars.
Allston is also known for its nightlife — from music venues to clubs and bars, people can be seen out at all hours of the night.
We’ve asked readers to tell us their favorite Allston restaurants and bars in recent weeks and over the course of the past couple years. In total, we received 25 restaurant recommendations to visit in Allston.
The Avenue Bar and Grill and Carlo’s Cucina Italiana were among readers’ top picks for favorite Allston restaurants, with each spot taking 7% of the vote.
“It’s North End Italian food without going to the North End,” said Katie from Brighton about Carlo’s in 2022. Readers recommended the tortellini pesto, linguine frutti di mare, and gnocchi spezzatino from Carlo’s.
Over at The Avenue, a casual neighborhood spot on Commonwealth Avenue, customers can order the veggie burger, trailer park tacos and a quesadilla that’s always “so packed” with the fixings, according to Jess from Brighton.
About The Avenue, Sean from Allston called it “unpretentious.”
“Great staff, good food at reasonable prices. A neighborhood bar, not overrun with college kids. People actually talk to each other here. Sooner or later, everyone in Allston ends up here,” he said.
Other popular spots readers shared were Hopewell Bar & Kitchen, Lone Star Taco Bar, which also has a Cambridge location, and Lulu’s.
