After Conde Nast Traveler named three destinations in Massachusetts and Maine among the most beautiful in the nation, Boston.com readers shared why they are must-visit spots.
The three New England spots, named among the 50 most beautiful places in America, are Martha’s Vineyard, the Berkshires, and Acadia National Park.
“They’re all incredibly beautiful and create a sense of peace and awe,” wrote an anonymous reader in our informal poll about the destinations.
“There is absolutely nothing like the clear water beaches and raw beauty of Martha’s Vineyard. The same goes for the coast of Maine & Acadia National Park,” wrote Amy from Newton.
Mark from Tampa, Fla. wrote that he enjoys visiting Martha’s Vineyard in May.

“Acadia’s wonderful for the views — ocean and green landscape — that you see at the top of the hiking trail. The shops and restaurants in Bar Harbor are lovely, too,” wrote Sue D. from Watertown.
Bar Harbor was recently named the best small town in America by U.S. News & World Report.
“Acadia National Park, the vistas are phenomenal, the odors like breathing in a room full of flowers, the sound of the surf, and the food is to die for,” John A. from Nashua, N.H.
“Magical places. I have visited all 3 places. Just incredible sites to see,” wrote an anonymous reader.
