When we asked Boston.com readers to name the best ski resort in New Hampshire, the answer was clear: Bretton Woods.
Bretton Woods in Carroll, N.H., surrounded by the White Mountain National Forest, is the largest ski area in New Hampshire. It offers 464 acres of skiing and riding, 10 lifts, 63 trails, and 35 glades. And then there’s the view.
The 52-year-old ski area is well known for its famous view of Mount Washington and the Presidential Range and was recently named among the top 30 ski resorts in the U.S. by Conde Nast Traveler.
Of the more than 500 responses to our poll, 27% said Bretton Woods is the ultimate destination in the Granite State for skiing and riding.

Ahead, readers share why they love Bretton Woods.
“Bretton woods has the best snow and the best glades. Couple that with the best views, a spacious lodge and good food, its hard to beat. Plus, being the furthest big NH ski mountain from Boston, it’s never too crowded.” — Brandon from Peabody
“Best snow conditions, always well groomed with the edges left natural. Fantastic views, glades everywhere and did I mention the T-bar and cabin area.” — Donna from Carlisle
“The best groomed trails in the Northeast. Even though it’s usually busy, the lines are never too long because there is so many open trails and lifts. Friendly staff and beautiful views!” — Jon from Worcester
“Beautiful setting and great terrain. More manageable crowds and short lift lines. Fantastic view of the Presidential Range. A truly pleasant and inspiring place to ski.” — Gary from Danvers
“Just love the view of Mt. Washington.” — Konstantin from Westborough
