Dave Portnoy was recently on his home turf in the North Shore rating seven pizza spots in the region for his his One Bite Pizza Reviews where he rates a plain cheese pizza slice on a scale from one to ten, occasionally mixing in ratings of other recommended bites like roast beef sandwiches and fair food.

Among his recent visit to local spots, Portnoy reviewed Amazing Pizza & More in Salem, making for a memorable review. The restaurant’s owner, Jacqui Field, appeared happy to see Portnoy and brought him back to the kitchen to see other staff and talk about the pizza.

In the video, expressing her thanks and gratitude for stopping by, Portnoy also highly encouraged fans to stop by Amazing Pizza if they’re in the area. Scoring slightly lower than the previous rating he gave to the restaurant, this time around they received an 8.1, which put them at a time with Cindy’s Pizza and Subs in Swampscott.

‘Yes I agree’

“They are all good, but House of Pizza in Marblehead is the best.”

– Alex, Marblehead

“Yes, because I have eaten at places he’s rated and I agree with his assessment of their pizza.”

– John W., Needham

“Yeah. I’ve been to those places. All good, some are better than others but not by much. I’m a Satarpio’s guy.”

– Mike, Stoneham

‘No, I don’t agree’

“Port is a comic selling his promo stuff in reviews. A total conman.”

– Anonymous

“If you’re rating pizza ‘not just on the pizza, but on the people’ – then what are we talking about here? Is he rating pizza or is he rating his personal experience? And by the way, I love Dave, but what’s [with] the ‘one bite’ – he literally never has rated a pizza after one bite. He consistently rates after 1 slice. He needs to change his tag line or he needs to start rating his pizza after 1 bite, especially since we all know the rules.”

– Beth R.

“Taste is subjective. Nobody’s taste buds are the same.”

– Andy, Connecticut
