Tim Paradiso trained for Boston twice. Now he’s finally ready to run.
"Watch for me in the red Michael's Miracles shirt!"
In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston. If you’re running the marathon, you can share your story here.
Name: Tim Paradiso
Age: 52
From: Boston
I had initially planned to run my first ever marathon in Boston in 2020 for my 50th birthday. I trained through mid-March, was feeling great, and then COVID happened.
I did not participate in the virtual race that year, nor the October version in 2021, as I wanted the same Boston Marathon experience as the thousands who had run before me. Thankfully, the wonderful charity that was allowing me to run back in 2020, The Michael Lisnow Respite Center, is again allowing me to run for them in 2022. So even though the symbolism of running the marathon for my 50th is gone, I’m now telling people I’m running a mile for every two years of my life.
I’ve trained twice for this marathon so I’m sure I’ll be quite emotional as I run down Boylston to the finish. Watch for me in the red Michael’s Miracles shirt!
