In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston. If you’re running the marathon, you can share your story here.

I have always wanted to run the Boston Marathon. It is always inspiring seeing people from all walks of life and athletic ability take on the challenging 26.2-mile course.
This year I am lucky enough to be running for Horizons for Homeless Children. Having two young children myself, 2 and 9 months, I cannot imagine not having a steady home and the stress that causes these parents.
One of my favorite pillars of work that Horizons for Homeless Children includes is its Playspace Program. It offers a playspace for children living in shelters. That little sense of normalcy and time that it allows for kids to let go and just be kids really makes a difference.
