Jeffrey B. Hopkins is running for the frontline workers fighting COVID-19
"What better way to show support than to do something that required a lot of endurance and commitment?"
In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston. If you’re running the marathon, you can share your story here.
Name: Jeffrey B. Hopkins, MD, FACEP
Age: 49
From: Hopkinton
I am running on behalf of Milford Regional Healthcare Foundation and hope to bring some much-needed funds and attention to the front-line providers who have been running a marathon of their own for the past couple of years.
As chair of the department of emergency medicine at Milford Regional Medical Center, it seems like it’s never-ending and there’s never going to be that finish line with COVID. I was inspired to run by the staff who I work with on a day-to-day basis. Seeing the endurance, perseverance, and commitment of everyone from the registrars, security, environmental services, to the nurses and the physicians, has been inspiring to see everyone come together to battle COVID over the past two years.
What better way to show support than to do something that required a lot of endurance and commitment?
