Gerald Tabios returned to take on the ‘holy grail of all marathons’

"It's even more challenging because of the difficult qualification times."

In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston.

Name: Gerald Tabios
Age: 52
From: Elmhurst, New York

Running the Boston Marathon is always a dream for any marathoner.

It is the holy grail of all marathons. It’s even more challenging because of the difficult qualification times. I qualified Boston three times but ran it once in 2017.

This year, on Patriots Day, I am glad and excited to return with my wife and daughter.
