Doug Roth is running Boston with his wife to support first responders
"I have fond memories of the marathon growing up in the area."
Name: Doug Roth
Age: 61
From: Richmond, Va.
I am humbled, honored and thrilled to be running the 2022 Boston marathon in support of the first responders at MGH.
My primary reasons are threefold:
1. My oldest son, Michael, has been a first responder for 15 years in our hometown of Richmond, Va. and it is a pleasure to support those at MGH.
2. MGH was a final resting place for two close relatives in the Boston area. My uncle Sandy in a battle against the effects of leukemia and his oldest son, my cousin Peter, from glioblastoma brain cancer at the young age of 55.
3. My mother is a graduate of Wellesley College while my father is a graduate of MIT and I have fond memories of the marathon growing up in the area as a Weston High School graduate.
I will be accompanied by my wife (a Boston qualifier running her first Boston Marathon) and look forward to running many familiar roads that I haven’t seen in 35-plus years!
