Alayna Madden is rucking Boston ‘to help the families left behind’

"I decided I needed to do this."

In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston.

Name: Alayna Madden
Age: 36
From: Hanson

I started my journey with the Tough Ruck Boston Marathon when a good friend told me, “If something happened to me, there would be people doing this event to raise money to help my family.” I decided I needed to do this, to help the families left behind since they aren’t here to fight anymore.

I am excited to say this will be my third year doing this event, and it will be the first time I’ve had the pleasure to do this in person. My first two events have been virtual due to the pandemic.

I’m very excited to see the difference!
