"I love being challenged and proving to myself I can accomplish whatever I set my mind to."

In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston. If you’re running the marathon, you can share your #WhyImRunningBoston story here.

Name: Ryan Gregory
Age: 28
From: Richmond, Mich.

There are many reasons I am running the 2021 Boston Marathon. I love being challenged and proving to myself I can accomplish whatever I set my mind to even if it’s running 26.2 miles. But the reason I am most proud of is raising money for the Red Cross charity. I believe helping other people is my sole purpose in life that God has blessed me with. When I cross the finish line in Boston I will have achieved more than just running the race!
