In what may prove to be the Dunkin’-related scandal of the century, a baker in Long Island, N.Y. has been accused of trying to pass off a Dunkin’ doughnut — complete with sprinkles shaped like little D’s — as their own vegan, gluten-free concoction.

The accusation, which came to light in a post from one of the baker’s clients on Instagram, almost immediately achieved viral status. And how could it not? If true, it seems like a particularly brazen attempt at fraudulence — particularly to us here in Massachusetts, where we pride ourselves on being able to spot a Dunkin’ product all the way from across the street (where we’re probably standing in another Dunkin’).

But might we be wrong? Might it be tougher than we think to pick out the pickings from the Bay State’s favorite doughnut-and-coffee franchise? Only one way to find out: By asking you, Boston.com readers, to test your pastry perceptions.

Unfortunately, science has yet to develop smell- or taste-o-vision for the internet, so you’ll have to rely on visual cues alone. Below you’ll find a series of doughnuts purchased by Boston.com from various establishments around the city. Your assignment: identify as Dunkin’ or not Dunkin’.
