Zelia Magliozzi is running Boston to support amputees

"I love challenging my body and am still amazed at what it can do!"

Zelia Magliozzi is running the 2024 Boston Marathon.

In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston.

Name: Zelia Magliozzi
Age: 56
From: Stoneham

I’m running the Boston Marathon as a charity runner raising funds for a small local charity, A Leg Forever Foundation, whose mission is to pay it forward to assist amputees that have tragically lost a limb. The foundation was established after the Norden brothers tragically lost a leg each at the Boston Marathon bombing.

The Norden family is paying it forward to help other amputees in need just like they received during their time of need. Why am I running Boston (again)? I’d like to say that running Boston was my midlife crisis and then I got hooked! I love challenging my body and am still amazed at what it can do!

Equally, I’m honored that I’m able to raise funds for such a worthy charity. It definitely takes a village to fundraise and get to the starting line! This is year 7 of fundraising and running Boston!
