Why I’m Running: ‘Boston will be my cancer-free victory lap’

Jaye Duncan is running Boston for Dana-Farber after beating cancer in 2023.

In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston. If you’re running the marathon, you can share your story here.

Name: Jaye Duncan
Age: 43
From: Brookline, N.H.

In 2022, I was diagnosed with aggressive stage 3 breast cancer. I spent all of 2023 in surgery or treatment.

I managed to run through it all.

Boston will be my cancer-free victory lap. I am now raising money for my cancer center, Dana-Farber.
