Tara Watt is running Boston for her grandfather
"This year, I am running for him and all our service members who have sacrificed and served our country."
In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston. If you’re running the marathon, you can share your #WhyImRunningBoston story here.
Name: Tara Watt
Age: 39
From: Manchester, N.H.
My grandfather ran the Boston Marathon in 1941 and 1942 before being deployed during World War II. While serving our country, he had his legs blown up by an IED and although they were able to save his legs, he couldn’t run after that. This year, I am running for him and all our service members who have sacrificed and served our country.
