Siobhan Geary is running Boston for the Greg Hill Foundation

"I hope the GHF can continue its mission and help as many people as possible when they need it the most."

In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston.

Name: Siobhan Geary
Age: 27
From: South Boston

I’m running the 2024 Boston Marathon to support the Greg Hill Foundation, which has been helping families during times of tragedy. My father is a dedicated first responder who started his career as a paramedic for Boston EMS before going to Duxbury as a firefighter and medic. He now works with the Massport Fire Department.

Through him, I have seen how quickly lives can be turned upside down and the challenges first responders face while on the job. The Greg Hill Foundation had a profound impact on me after learning the Foundation started raising money for a Falmouth firefighter who was injured while fighting a fire last December and required an extensive stay in the hospital undergoing multiple surgeries.
